Indian textile fair ‘Intexpo’ begins in Dhaka

Intexpo Bangladesh, an Indian textile trade fair has started in Dhaka – Bangladesh, which was inaugurated by State Minister for Textiles – Mirza Azam.

The trade show has been jointly organized by the Synthetic and Rayon Textiles Export Promotion Council (SRTEPC) and Indian High Commission in Bangladesh.

22 Indian companies are partaking in the fair which has on display suiting, shirting, equipments, embroidery fabrics, high class fashion fabrics, home textiles and apparel accessories.

The exposition organisers will also organise meetings between businessmen from India and Bangladesh.

Speaking at the inauguration, Mirza Azam said this fair would help in improving quality of Bangladeshi garment products.

He also added that it would also play a role in the economy of two countries.

Indian Deputy High Commissioner Sandeep Chakraborty informed that Bangladesh has huge potential in exporting garments to India.

“However, entrepreneurs from both countries were devoid of information and that non-duty barriers should be resolved soon,” he said.

He informed that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi had called India an ideal place for investors and had also said that Bangladesh will get priority in India. (AR)
