US envoy visits APTMA office

A US envoy visited the All Pakistan Textile Mills Association Punjab to understand industry viewpoint on market access, investment, trade and sustainability issues. Political and Economic Officer of US Consulate General Lahore Andrew H Doehler visited the APTMA Punjab office. He was received by the Senior Vice Chairman of the Association Syed Ali Ahsan.

The visiting envoy said a permanent representative of the USAID would soon be appointed in Lahore to carry out the ongoing initiatives in the education and health areas. Already, he said, it was driving an energy conservation campaign in Pakistan. The Association informed him that the industry was in touch with a US firm Monsanto for improving the quality of cotton seed. It further stressed on the need of matchmaking between the US and Pakistan entrepreneurs through video links, engagement of buying houses to promote Pakistan textile products in the US and a relaxation in the travel advisory for Pakistan. Both the sides agreed that Pakistan economy was improving fast despite facing a complex situation.
