Pakistan Stable Country For Business: Italian Envoy
The Italian Ambassador Stefano Pontecorvo has said Pakistan is a stable country for business and the China Pakistan Economic Corridor would prove a game changer for this country. On the visa issue, he said two dedicated desks for processing visa applications from the Pakistani businessmen would be allocated in the embassy. “The Pakistani businessmen would have multi-year visas for Italy soon, as the visa issues would be resolved in next two months,” he added.
He was speaking to the members of the All Pakistan Textile Mills Association Punjab on Saturday. He said a Pakistani delegation would be led by Miftah Ismail and Khurram Dastgir to Italy in the month of April and the textile sector would secure a special place in this visit. “I was also planning to set up a technical assistance centre at the Textile University where Pakistani students would be trained on the Italian technology,” he said.
He said his country was known for manufacturing farm machinery and textile machinery. He told the Association members that a good number of Italian delegations would be visiting Pakistan in near future. Besides, a road show of Italian products would also be organized in major cities of Pakistan, he added. Chairman of the Association Aamir Fayyaz received him at the Punjab office and made a detailed presentation on the importance of textile industry in Pakistan. He told the visiting envoy that the local textile industry was importing machinery from Italy.
He said the textile industry considers Italy as a centre of textile fashion and the collaboration in between the fashion schools of two sides would be highly encouraged. He also appreciated the idea of setting up centres at the Textile University for training of Pakistani students. He proposed the visiting envoy to pave the way for joint ventures between the businessmen of two countries.
