Textile for Availability Of All Banking Services on 2nd, 9th
The textile industry has urged the State Bank of Pakistan to ensure full banking on 2nd and 9th of July instead of restricting it to manage the cash issue. Sources said a letter has been sent to the Governor SBP, seeking a full-fledged banking on the working days of banks during Eid holidays to accrue its benefit in real terms.
The letter has pointed out that restricting the banking to managing cash to consumers would be a useless exercise and arrangements should be made to enable the industry for international business. The import, export and foreign exchange sections at banks should also be operational on 2nd and 9th of July so that the industry could carry out business with international markets, it added. In order to facilitate the general public, SB) has asked banks to keep open all branches on first two Saturdays of July 2016.
Earlier, all banks branches were supposed to open only one day (July 4, 2016) during the first ten days of July 2016 due to bank holiday and Eid-ul-Fitr holidays and routine Saturday /Sunday off. For early replenishment of cash at ATMs, banks will make proper arrangements of currency stock at the respective ATM feeding branches. Commercial banks shall make public the contact numbers of focal person for quick redressal of all complaints relating to malfunctioning or shortage of currency notes in ATMs.
